Music Bay

Our OTU Wine Estate brings together a unique, sea-swept terroir set at the edge of the Southern Ocean – where the ancient Otuwhero River runs through the lower valleys of Marlborough New Zealand – with an expert group of passionate people drawn from around the world of wine.
Cradled between snowy mountains and at the edge of the South Pacific Ocean, our OTU Wine Estate is remote coastal and rugged terroir – and along with low vigour soils and long sunshine hours, produces distinctively bold, ripe fruit flavours, and exquisitely expressive wines. Planted entirely in Sauvignon Blanc at the outset, our OTU Estate is made up of multiple vineyard blocks, predominantly planted on exposed north eastern facing slopes which now include Pinot Noir.

Our Music Bay series come from New Zealand’s top wine regions, world-renowned for unique flavours and textures. Here in New Zealand the seasons are quite different from other parts of the world due to the influences of the mountain ranges and the moderating coastal breezes, creating clean, vibrant, invigorating wines with a very distinctive character.
Blessed with a pleasant climate and clean environment in this magic land, we are able to explore winemaking with clearer notes and deeper vitality. The Music Bay series, just like the four seasons, has four different compositions to suit your mood throughout a whole year.
Music Bay Spring is bright and confident, with lighter alcohol and clear, crisp notes that evoke new beginnings.
Or invite your friends to a Music Bay Summer, and enjoy the full tropical flavours and aromas of a late summer night out on the lawn.
Music Bay Autumn is as rich and opulent as the last harvest before bright gold leaves gently fall to the ground, a special pleasure to share with families.
And sometimes you may like to shut the doors and snuggle into the warmth and softness of Music Bay Winter Merlot.
Music Bay captures the seasonal characteristics of New Zealand’s unique vineyards, putting a new spin on an old song that never goes out of style.
In November 2024, Marlborough Wine Estates (MWE) Group has decided to be delisted from the NZX main board to reduce costs amid challenges in the global wine market: “Delisting is the obvious means of cost reduction available to MWE. It will allow MWE to reduce fees associated with being a listed company such as audit, legal and governance costs, and therefore, will benefit MWE and its shareholders in the long run.”
The company emphasised the need to improve its balance sheet as global consumers reduced its inventory level, resulting in the decline of wine export volumes.
In the fiscal year ended June 30, the company swung to a loss of $3.3 million after revenue fell 11.4 per cent to $8.35 million.
The final day of trading in the company's ordinary shares was on December 31, 2024. The shares ceased to be quoted and MWE will officially delist on January 6, 2025.
