Lombard & Medot engages in the production and marketing of champagne and is headquartered in Épernay, France.
It manufactures various types of champagne including Brut Référence, Demi-sec Référence, Brut Premier Cru, Brut Grand Cru Millésime 2008, Brut Premier Cru Rosé, and Tanagra and they are sold to cellar owners, fine grocery stores, and restaurants under the Lombard brand.
50% of sales are domestic, 50% are in International markets.
The company was founded in 1925 by Robert Andrieu who came from a farming-winemaking family in the Lot & Garonne department. He had just graduated from the école d'Agriculture de Montpellier when World War I broke out and he was sent to the front in the Champagne region.
At the end of the war he decided to go back to the Champagne region to found a “Maison de Commerce” (House of Trade) on the outskirts of épernay under the name “Société Anonyme de Magenta-Epernay”. The Magenta Champagne brand was born in 1925.
In 1936, the company acquired larger cellars at 1 rue des Cotelles in Epernay, which is still its address today.
The quest for excellence that has always been part of the company’s spirit can be seen in the slogan of the day: Champagne Magenta “le Rival des Meilleurs” (Rival to the Best).
The company continued to grow and generation followed generation: Philippe Lombard, Robert Andrieu’s son-in-law, kept his work alive and expanded it. Then Thierry Lombard, his son, became the current manager.
Each generation brings its personal touch to the House’s reputation. The Brand adopted the Lombard & Cie name.
