ABRAU DURSO

Abrau Durso is the company which manages the wine production in the Russian area which has the same name.
Abrau-Dyurso or Abrau-Durso (Russian: Абрау-Дюрсо) is a rural locality under the administrative jurisdiction of the City of Novorossiysk in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. It is located on the shore of Lake Abrau, 14 kilometers (8.7 mi) west of Novorossiysk. It should not be confused with the khutor of Dyurso, which is located 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) to the south, where the Dyurso River enters the Black Sea, and which is sometimes incorrectly considered to be a part of Abrau-Dyurso.

The settlement was founded on November 25, 1870 as a royal winery which was to provide wine for the Tsar's household. These plans were brought to fruition twenty-one years later, when Prince Leo Galitzine, renowned for his Crimean vineyards of Massandra and Novy Svet, was appointed Surveyor of Imperial Vineyards at Abrau-Dyurso. It was he who brought to Russia a team of skilled winemakers from France. By 1897, Abrau-Dyurso boasted champagne cellars containing in excess of 13,000 bottles.
In 1905, Frenchman Victor Dravigny was given the position of chief winemaker. It was his experiments and hard work that led to the recognition of the winehouse "Abrau-Durso" first in Russia, and later all over the world.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought an end to Abrau-Dyurso's prosperity, if only for a short time. The French specialists fled Russia, but their work was continued by their Russian apprentices. Throughout the Soviet period, Abrau-Dyurso was reputed for its sparkling wine, which was marketed under the name of Sovetskoye Shampanskoye ("Soviet Champagne"), or "champagne for the people".
Since 1920, Anton Mikhailovich FrolovBagreev, an outstanding wine-maker and founder of the production of Soviet Champagne, has become the head of the wine house.
In 2006, the new era of Abrau-Durso began — the plant was acquired by the SVL group, headed by Boris Titov. He decides to keep production and increase the greatness of the legendary brand.
Modern «Abrau-Durso» is a well-known trade mark, a sign of high quality, loyalty to traditions and a new view of the future.
The company major activity is the production of sparkling wine which represents nearly 85% of revenues. The other revenues come from tourism, logistics and real estate development. 100% of sales are in the Russia.

Major shareholder is Boris Y. Titov (95%) who is also the chairman of the company whilst Vladimir I. Semenov is the CEO and Irina V. Zhukova is the COO.
